Friesian stallion ORLANDO OF MILLFORD …
This young Friesian stallion named “Orlando” can consider himself very lucky to have been born in such a wonderful place and to be reared here in such beautiful surroundings: Millford Farm belongs to Tim & Kate Baynes and, despite the fact that it is located right in the heart of South Africa, it represents a green oasis of fertility. These luscious, green hills, the view of the mountains, the gentle rain – it’s hard to believe you are in South Africa, it seems just like England. The countryside of the South African Midlands around Pietermaritzburg is incredibly fertile and quite reminiscent of Europe. This is the reason why there are so many studs here, many of them run by families of English origin who have discovered ideal conditions for their horse and cattle breeding here in the Kwa Zulu Natal Midlands . In the garden of Millford Friesian Stud huge Rhododendron hedges are covered in pink and white blossom, in the meadows the grass grows waist-high, and in a small pond the foals splash around whilst their watchful mothers nibble away at the grass around the edges.
